BYD India has started 2025 on a high note, recording 312 units in sales for January, marking an impressive 91% year-on-year (YoY) growth compared to the 163 units sold in the same month last year. This surge reflects the brand’s increasing foothold in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market and the growing acceptance of sustainable mobility solutions.
Even though the financial year 2025 is still underway, BYD India has already sold 2,703 units, a remarkable 81% increase from the 1,493 units sold during the same period in the previous fiscal year. This steady growth underlines the company’s expanding influence in the country’s EV sector.
BYD’s current lineup in India includes the Atto 3, e6 Max, and Seal. The range will soon be expanded with the introduction of the Sealion 7, which made its debut at the 2025 Auto Expo. Built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo, the Sealion 7 features the brand’s advanced Blade Battery and is powered by an 82.5 kWh battery pack. The Premium variant comes with a rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup, producing 313 PS and 380 Nm, and offers a claimed range of 567 km. Meanwhile, the Performance variant features all-wheel drive (AWD), generating 530 PS and 690 Nm, with a 542 km range. The SUV supports DC fast charging, allowing it to charge from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes.
BYD has officially opened bookings for the Sealion 7 at EVM BYD Southcoast, positioning it as an attractive choice for Indian buyers looking for a high-performance electric SUV. With strong sales figures and an expanding portfolio, BYD continues to solidify its status as a leading global EV manufacturer.
