BYD has reached a historic milestone by rolling out its 10-millionth New Energy Vehicle (NEV), marking a major achievement in the company’s journey towards sustainable transportation. The landmark event coincided with BYD’s 30th-anniversary celebrations at its Xiaomo Production Base in the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone.
As the first automaker in the world to hit the 10-million NEV mark, BYD has demonstrated unmatched growth and innovation in the industry. What’s even more impressive is the speed at which the company achieved this feat. It took 15 years to produce its first 5 million NEVs, but the next 5 million were manufactured in just 15 months, highlighting BYD’s rapid expansion and technological advancements.
To offer deeper insights into the company’s rise, Chinese financial journalist and author Qin Shuo conducted interviews with nearly 100 BYD executives and employees. His findings were compiled into the book "The Soul of Engineers", shedding light on BYD’s corporate culture, innovation-driven mindset, and commitment to sustainable development.
Looking ahead, BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu introduced the BYD Basic Guidelines, a strategic framework outlining the company’s core principles, historical learnings, and future ambitions. As part of its vision, BYD plans to invest 100 billion yuan in intelligent technologies, integrating artificial intelligence with automotive systems to enhance its vehicle lineup.
With a strong focus on engineering excellence and sustainability, BYD is set to further solidify its position as a global leader in new energy vehicles. This milestone not only reflects BYD’s unwavering commitment to innovation but also paves the way for an AI-driven future in the automotive industry.
